# Set up OpusClip

Set up OpusClip for the user in Claude Code or Codex. Run each step yourself and stop only when you need the user.

1. Check that Node.js is installed. If it isn't, ask the user before you install it.
2. Install the OpusClip skill package. It adds three skills: opusclip, copy-video-style and opusclip-media-generation. It needs network access, so in Codex, ask the user to approve running it outside the sandbox.
   - Claude Code: `npx --yes skills add opus-pro/opus-skills --skill opusclip --agent claude-code --global --yes`
   - Codex: `npx --yes skills add opus-pro/opus-skills --skill opusclip --agent codex --global --yes`
3. Connect the OpusClip MCP server as `opusclip` at exactly https://mcp.opus.pro/mcp. If a server named `opusclip` already has this URL, keep it. Don't use the OpusClip connector from the Claude directory; it doesn't include video understanding or generation.
   - Claude Code: `claude mcp add --transport http --scope user opusclip https://mcp.opus.pro/mcp`
   - Codex: `codex mcp add opusclip --url https://mcp.opus.pro/mcp`
4. Sign the user in once. The sign-in command opens their browser by itself, where they approve access and choose their OpusClip organization. Never open the sign-in link yourself.
   - Codex: if adding the server already started sign-in, wait for it to finish. Otherwise, run `codex mcp login opusclip` outside the sandbox.
   - Claude Code: if you can run commands in a terminal the user can see, such as the Terminal panel in the Claude desktop app, run `claude mcp login opusclip` there. Otherwise, don't run it. Tell the user to start a new session, type /mcp, choose opusclip, then choose Authenticate.
5. Check that sign-in worked. Claude Code: `claude mcp get opusclip` should show Connected. Codex: `codex mcp get` shows only the saved config, so read the opusclip row of `codex mcp list`, whose Auth column should say OAuth, not Not logged in. If it's signed in, tell the user to start a new session so the skills and tools load. If they still need to sign in, tell them exactly how.

Don't run paid OpusClip tools during setup.
